Three Lions ready to roar!!

Will 2010 be England’s year?

The Three Lions are genuine contenders for the 2010 World Cup. After some impressive recent performances and a much more solid look under Fabio Capello, excitement is inevitably starting to grow that 2010 South Africa could be England’s year.

However, I don’t think anyone should be getting carried away with England’s chances in the 2010 World Cup just yet. Although, Capello is unquestionably a great tactician but this is a team who consistently fail to reach their potential and do the business in the tournaments. In qualifying round, England have been really impressive and have comfortably dealt with whatever has been thrown at them but to be fair this team still possess some obvious flaws that couldn’t be denied.

In goal England still hugely relies on the experience of 39-year-old, David James who always finds himself at the center of stage for vulnerability and silly mistakes. Next, England are still yet to find a right-back to replace Gary Neville, though Glen Johnson is a potential candidate who looks lively going forward but awful covering at the back. In John Terry and Rio Ferdinand England have, perhaps, the best central defensive partnership in the world. However, both are prone to injury and England will need both these players fit to win the tournament.

The midfield is pretty decent, but the main question is can Lampard and Gerrard play together? I am yet to see a truly inspiring performance from both although Capello looks likely to stick with this partnership. While, the likes of Joe Cole, Aaron Lennon and Wright Philips offer some tricks and speed, but always disappear during the big games.

Despite all of these weaknesses, the nation's dream is on the shoulder of their Golden Boy (lol not me), Wayne Rooney who is currently enjoying his best international form since Euro 2004. This season Rooney has blossomed into one of the most deadly and effective forward after scoring 34 goals for his club side, Manchester United. He is very important because when the team is falling asleep, he is the one who can give them a boost. Thus, England’s hope of landing the world cup solely depends on Wayne Rooney.

This summer U belong to me

As I said in the beginning, I hate to say it but I’ve had my heart broken by England so many times. So, I’m probably a bit jaded now! I’m going to stay realistic, pray England win and just try and enjoy the football. After missing out on Euro 2008, I just hope there won’t be element of regret anymore.

I loveeeee........ENGLAND
